Cairo : The incident involving a US warship and two Egyptian boats which resulted in the death of an Egyptian citizen is an unsettling event which needs investigation, said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit.
During a news conference with Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn Wednesday, Abul-Gheit expressed deep concern over the shooting incident, adding that Egyptian seaports should not be used as a field for shooting.
He said: “I am not fully briefed about the incident but being approached by boats does not give you the authority to shoot.”
He affirmed that Egypt accepted the US apology but indicated that the issue would be extensively discussed with the American side.
The US admitted earlier to the incident which occurred in the Suez Canal Tuesday.
