Manila : Two earthquakes measuring 5.7 and 5.8 degrees of Richter scale were reported in northern and central Philippines separately on Saturday, according to local television network GMA News.
The quakes took place in Batanes in extreme Northern Luzon and Eastern Visayas Saturday morning, without causing damage or casualty, said the report quoting the United States Geological Service (USGS).
The Batanes quake was recorded at 06:41 a.m. (2241 GMT Friday) and traced the epicenter 30 km south-southwest of Basco in Batanes, while that in Eastern Visayas took place at 11:01 a.m. (0301 GMT) and traced the epicenter to 180 km northeast of Calbayog in Samar province, according to the TV report.
The epicenter of the Batanes quake was also located at 255 km north-northeast of Laoag in Ilocos Norte or 625 km north of Manila.
The epicenter of the Eastern Visayas quake was recorded at 185 km east-southeast of Pandan in Catanduanes province in Bicol, or 210 km east of Legazpi City in Albay, Bicol, or 530 km east-southeast of Manila.
