Beijing : China affirmed Saturday that those encouraging the Olympic Games boycott for the country to give in to their claims in Tibet are fully wrong.
Tibet is an issue in which the government will never make concessions, even if boycott instigators see the Olympics as a historic opportunity to exert pressure on China, according to a commentary by Xinhua official news agency.
Tibet is a matter of territorial integrity linked to national interest, the article added.
Those noisy boycotts will be weightless compared to the Chinese people’s increasing support for governmental actions to restore stability in Lhasa and other Tibetan areas, as corroborated in forums and internet pages, the text stressed.
Behind that support is the inborn decision to safeguard national sovereignty, it went on.
They must accept that neither pressures nor boycotts will force the Chinese government to make secessionist concessions, the document highlighted.
