Damascus : The Non-aligned Movement has historically given top priority to Middle East issues, Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque stressed Saturday when ratifying his solidarity and support for the Arab cause.

When speaking on behalf of NAM chairmanship at the 20th Arab League Summit, Perez Roque gave special mention to the Palestinian peoples fight, and unconditional handover of all Israeli-occupied Arab territories.

He advocated support for Palestinians to exert their inalienable right to self-determination and establishment of an independent State, with East Jerusalem as the capital.

Both issues have been a reason of struggle for non-aligned countries, the Cuban minister highlighted, and recalled that voice has been strongly heard at all multilateral forums dealing with the topic, including all UN instances.

The movement, he remarked, has demanded the immediate end of the military aggression, collective punishment, and massive violation of the Palestinian people’s human rights by Israel.

Amid the prevailing complex situation, the NAM chairmanship once again called for the resumption of direct, serious talks between the parties, to reach a general, fair, lasting, and peaceful understanding.
