The maximum temperature in the national capital crossed 35 degrees Celsius – two degrees above normal. The minimum was 20.8 degrees, four degrees above the normal.

Other states like Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and even Jammu and Kashmir saw a jump in the mercury.

The Met Office forecast that the northeastern states would get isolated showers in the next few days.

Southern states are also likely to get rain as the influence of a cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.

Bangalore Saturday recorded a rainfall of 2.6 mm though most of southern states remained dry.
