Navy Corporal Stephen Tatum is accused of killing two Iraqi sisters, 14 and 5 years old, on Nov. 19, 2005, when breaking into various houses in that Iraqi locality.

Eight marines were accused of storming two houses with grenades and rifle fire and slaughtering 24 civilians, chiefly women and children, but four of them were found not guilty later.

Two of the soldiers who are still on the judicial process hardly face charges since an investigation on the incident has not been ordered.

Tatum faces charges of voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and related offenses.
