A letter from the Arab League this month on behalf of the UAE is the “first attempt” to exploit the dangerous precedence set by the US in forcing the UN Security Council to pass resolutions against Iran over its nuclear program, Pirouz Mojtahed-Zadeh said.

In both cases, the allegations are being made “without there being a proven case,” Mojtahed-Zadeh said in an open letter to the UN chief.

“Iran has not said even a word about these islands since 1971 when they were returned to her legally through the MoU signed by Iran and the Emirate of Sharjah under the auspicious of the Foreign Office of the United Kingdom,” he said.

“The letter in question by the Arab League are designed to provoke territorial disputes against Iran by reopening a case that was settled legally and peacefully more than 36 years ago, before the UAE came into existence,” the letter said.
