The targeted man escaped the missile but was seriously injured, said the witnesses, and he died later in the hospital. The security sources identified the man as a Hamas commander called Nafez Mansour, 40.

A bystander girl was also slightly wounded in the bombing which took place in al-Shabora refugee camp in the border town of Rafah.

Earlier Thursday morning, the Israeli army rolled into the eastern territories of Khan Younis city in southern Gaza Strip and began leveling groves.

About eight army vehicles, including tanks, and three bulldozers took place in the incursion. The forces arrested some of the residents.

Clashes erupted between the invading forces and Palestinian militants without reports on casualties so far.

The armed wing of the Islamic Jihad said it fired several mortar shells on the forces.

The incursion comes after Palestinian factions on Wednesday accepted Egyptian proposals for ceasefire with Israel. The Egyptians, who mediate between Israel and Hamas, are to hear from Israel next week about its vision for the lull in Gaza.
