The consulate informed the station manager of Delta Airlines that they have received a hijack threat for flight DL-17, the official said.

When contacted, the consulate spokesperson and station manager of Delta Airlines denied the incident completely.

However, a police official confirmed the incident and told IANS, “We got a call from the airport authorities regarding a hijack threat and a suspect on board. We immediately deployed our team there.”

The airport police said it was nothing big and was almost like a non-incident. “But there was stringent security as a precautionary measure,” he said.

The flight finally took-off at 1.17 a.m. from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).
