Kuwait : A candidate running in scheduled parliamentary elections called for forming a government capable of pressing ahead with national development schemes.
Issam Nayef Al-Dabbous of the fifth constituency told followers at a campaign rally held last night that the political crises in the country negatively affected the society, the national economy and culture, in addition to services and other vital sectors.
Al-Dabbous rejected a much-debated proposal to establish political parties, saying such a step would deepen “dissensions and plunge the country into dark channels.” On the housing question, the nominee affirmed that this issue largely affected the social security, noting that only five percent of the lands in the country has been allocated for the construction of houses, while the rest has been placed at the disposal of the ministries of defense and oil.
He called for regular updating of the national teaching curricula to stay abreast of global modern-time development in this sector.
Regarding the health sector, he said that the number of public hospitals has not increased since the 80s, adding that medium-income citizens cannot afford treatment at the private ones.
He warned that continous negligence of the problem of the illegal residents would lead to rise of crimes and social problems.
This constituency comprises 20 residential districts with an electorate of 101,294 souls, including 54,418 women.
