Jeddah : The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof.Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has been following the developments of the tense situation in the Djiboutian Domera Cape on the borders between Djibouti and Eretria since February 2008. He has been also following the efforts made by the Republic of Djibouti to resolve tension between the two countries through peaceful means, according to an OIC statement. Prof. Ihsanoglu stressed that the two countries should observe principles of good neighborhood, integrity of their borders, unity and territorial integrity, and deepening Islamo-African cooperation.
The Secretary General has also called upon the two countries to show self-restraint, resort to peaceful ways to resolve this problem and to avoid any procedures, which may result in further escalation of tension between them. An OIC delegation, soon to pay a visit to Djibouti, will take cognizance of the latest developments in this regard, among other issues, which the delegation expects to discuss with senior officials in Djibouti, including the situation in Somalia.
