Cancel land allotment to RSS group: Madhya Pradesh ombudsman

Bhopal, May 9 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh’s Lokayukta (ombudsman) Ripusudan Dayal has recommended cancellation of allotment of two plots in Indore to Guruji Seva Nyas, an organisation affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), officials said Friday.

Congress leader K.K. Mishra complained to the Lokayukta that the Nyas was allotted the land by the Indore Development Authority (IDA) last year at a price much lower than the prevailing market price.

He alleged this had caused huge losses to the IDA. He claimed that the land was allottedto the RSS affiliated organisation at Rs.5,200 per sq ft while the adjacent plot was sold at over Rs.23,000 per sq ft – almost four times more than what was charged to the Nyas.

“The two plots were given to the Nyas for a meagre Rs.44 million whereas the market price of the land was around Rs.250 million,” Mishra alleged.

He also said that the allotment process was completed in record time.

“The entire allotment process from the opening of tenders to final approval by the IDA board of directors and getting sanction from the state capital was completed from April 7 to 12. RSS chief K.S. Sudershan performed a bhoomi pujan for a hospital at the place on April 15 after land allotment,” Mishra said.

Dayal last week recorded the statements of IDA officials, including its chairman Madhu Verma and CEO Pramod Gupta and Thursday recommended to the state government that the allotment be cancelled, an official said on condition of anonymity.

A copy of the recommendation has been sent to the principal secretary (housing and environment) and the IDA chairman, he added.
