“We are not in agreement. The Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) has been very open and accessible at every level. This includes the Congress Working Committee (CWC) of which Arjun Singh is a part,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told reporters.

“Even as the chairperson of United Progressive Alliance (UPA), she takes all constituents into confidence,” he added.

In a book titled ‘Mohe Kahan Vishram’ (Where is the time to rest), a collection of articles on him and edited by Kanhaiyalal Nandan, Singh has said the Congress no longer practises a democratic system in decision-making – a norm the party followed earlier.

However, exercising caution, Ahmed said: “We will have to see if the said chapter (in which the statement was reportedly made) is there after the book is released.”
