Abu Dhabi : UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and Afghani Red Crescent Society (RCS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a psychiatric hospital to heal the Afghani people traumatised by the incessant wars, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported Tuesday.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Osman, Charge d’affaires of UAE Embassy in Kabul said during the signing of MoU in presence of Fatima Jailani, chairperson of the Afghani RCS, that “the hospital project is one of the humanitarian initiatives reflecting humanitarian attitude of the UAE to support stability in Afghanistan”.
“The Emarati psychiatric hospital in Kabul will provide specialised medical services to those highly traumatised and in need of special care. They still live with the painful and bitter memories of the wars witnessed by Afghanistan over the last few years”, he remarked.
Jailani stressed the sustained humanitarian role shouldered by the UAE to back the people of Afghanistan, adding that the people of Afghanistan were “grateful to the UAE leadership and people as well”.
On his part, Abdullah Al Murshedi, director of the RCA office in Afghanistan, underlined that the projects conducted by the RCA in Afghanistan over the last six years were great support to the people of Afghanistan, indicating the projects cost Dh183.9 million.
