Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured a Shia delegation on 13th May that the state government will soon reconstitute Shia Wakf Board.
The Chief Minister said this to a delegation of Majlis-e-Ulema wa Khutba Imamia (Patna) which had gone to meet him at his residence. It is the first time that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with any Shia delegation in his three-year-old government.
The chief minister was glad to meet Shia leaders and assured them that the controversy on appointment of chairman of Shia Wakf Board separately will be solved shortly. Nitish also said that no hindrance will come in the path of reconstitution of separate Shia Wakf Board.
The delegation handed over a memorandum to the chief minister which he carefully read and underlined at several places. He asked Naushad Ahmad, chairman of Bihar Minority Commission, to talk with officials for immediate action.
Nitish added: “History is witness that the people of Millat-e-Jafria played a very important role in the construction of state as well as the country; that’s why the government will solve their problems on priority basis.”
Maulana Amanatullah Hussaini, a Shia leader, told mediapersons after the meeting that their meeting with the chief minister was very satisfactory.
In the memorandum submitted to the chief minister, it was demanded that the Shia community should be given representation in Bihar legislative council, state Minority Commission, implementation committee of 15-point programmes, Madrasa Board, Urdu Academy and in all district committees. Government recognition to Madrasa Sulaimania, very old madrasa situated in Patna City, like one to Madrasa Shamsul Hoda, was also demanded. The government was requested to institute awards in the name of eminent Shia Muslim scholars like Shad Azimabadi, Jamil Mazhari, Hosh Azimabadi, Prof. Hasan Askari and famous medical surgeon Dr SM Nawab.
The delegation included president of Majlis-e-Ulema Khutba Maulana Syed Asad Raza and general secretary Maulana Syed Amanat Hussain.
