Beirut : The leader of the Lebanese parliamentary majority, Saad Hariri, reiterated his position of force and refused to talk to the Party of God (Hizbollah) to solve the tense situation being lived by Lebanon.
Hariri insisted that his group would not go to the dialogue “even if they shoot us”, and pointed out that conversations should be centered in the topic of weapons.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army was deployed Tuesday in the main zones of conflict, where a tense calm was kept after these forces warned Monday that if necessary, they would take extreme measures to establish order.
Lebanese troops intensified their control over highways and patrols, and have orders to repress any individual or collective infraction.
The armed confrontations shaking the country since the previous week, started in the middle of a general strike of workers demanding salary increases that derived in bloody crashes between the government’s followers and the opposition.
The current situation has been the result of a long and tense political crisis that Arab nation is living since 2005, taking the life of at least nine political personalities, and the presidential seat remains vacant since November 24.
A group of measures taken by Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, among them the dismantling of the Hizbollah telecommunication net and the substitution of the security chief of the airport were a final strike for the start of the crisis.
