Jeddah : The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which groups 57 Muslim countries, reaffirmed its unwavering support to the Palestinian people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of occupation of Palestine lands by the Jewish usurpers. In a statement, the OIC appealed to all Islamic States and peoples to continue their support in all its forms to enable the Palestinian people to recover their national rights and to establish their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Following the full text of the statement: We recall these days, the sixtieth anniversary of the tragedy that befell Palestine and led to the dispersion of the Palestinian people who have been uprooted from their homeland and led to live in diasporas across the world, as victims of an arch-crime of the contemporary era, a crime the like of which was never registered in human history, with the Palestinian people being displaced, exiled and dispersed. Since the onset of this six- decade long tragedy, the international community has remained impotent to implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly that recognize and support the Palestinian people’s right to return, to self-determination and to the establishment of their own independent Palestinian state.
This painful anniversary is revisiting us today at a time when the Palestinian people’s saga is still ongoing due to the fallouts of the tragedy and Israel’s continued exactions in spoiling the territory and its people, robbing the land and perpetrating unspeakable massacres that have targeted defenseless and peaceful citizens, including children, women, and elderly people, as well desecrating and destroying sacred places, and trying to deprive the land of all livelihood and all the necessities for the Palestinian people’s survival and resistance, through an organized and systematic policy that flouts all the human values and international resolutions.
Despite the trail of these decades and the accompanying humiliations, hardships, and bitterly painful recollections, the Palestinian people have given a rare example of sacrifice, patience, firm belief in their just cause, commitment to their right to return and to establish their own independent state, firm resilience and endurance, and unflagging rejection of all attempts to cause them to dissolve and be wiped out, despite Israel’s continued aggression and attempts to eliminate the Palestinian people from memory.
The international community is called upon, today more than at any other time in the past, to see to the implementation of the resolutions of the international legitimacy and to stand by the Palestinian people and endeavor to put an end to their long endured hardships and to ensure the restitution of their national rights, their rights to return to their homeland, to self determination and to the establishment of their own their independent Palestinian state.
On this occasion, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) wishes to reiterate the Palestinian people’s national rights, reaffirms its unwavering stand in support of the Palestinian people. The OIC appeals to all Islamic States and peoples to continue their support in all its forms to enable the Palestinian people to recover their national rights including the refugees’ right to return to their towns, homesteads and properties and to establish their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
