According to an ABC Radio Australia report, the intimidatory message arrived in a letter.

After that incident, the processing offices of the diplomatic office closed without reporting when the restrictions would be lifted.

The country-continent mission to Suva said it was interested in holding a meeting with the Fijian Foreign Ministry, because the situation is becoming worrying.

Bartley received the first letter the past week, and it was delivered by a taxi driver.

Fijian Police spokeswoman Ema Mua stated that those threats are becoming really serious.

After the first letter, Canberra requested permission from the Fijian authorities to send security personnel to its embassy, but they did not answer.

With the last threat, the Australian government updated its request to send federal agents to Fiji to protect the personnel of its diplomatic headquarters and reiterated its great concern about the new incident.

The Australian authorities warned those who have plans to travel to Fiji about those threats and the increase in crime in those islands.

They suspect that the ultimatums sent to Bartley have a political motive and could be related to the prohibitions to Fijian military agents, members of the provisional government, and their relatives of travelling to Australia.
