Srinagar, India : The army says six rebels were Killed in a clash between security forces and suspected insurgents in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
The Associated Press quoted Indian army spokesman Lt. Col. Anil Kumar Mathur as saying that the rebels were killed Saturday after army and police sealed off a forested area in Lurgam village following a tip-off that they were hiding there.
Lurgam is 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Srinagar, the summer capital of India’s Jammu-Kashmir state.
