Kalam pitches in for central agency to fight terror

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Monday called for a central agency for coordinated action between the states and the central government to fight terrorism.

Kalam said mindless acts of crimes are taking place in the country for more than two decades and this phenomenon is increasing.

“What we need is a single agency that could oversee state and central intelligence gathering work. It should not only effectively handle terror, but also take care of national security,” said Kalam, addressing the third Rustamji Memorial Lecture organized by Border Security Force here.
