Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt : Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan on Monday urged the international community to solve the Iranian nuclear issue by means of dialogue. The Turkish top diplomat made the call at a plenary session of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East at the Egyptian Red Sea resort, saying “it is a problem that needs to be resolved by diplomatic means.”
Director-Genaral of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei, who is also attending the meeting here, said his agency has no evidence that Iran is seeking to develop anatomic bomb, adding that the Iranian issue is a problem of trust. Earlier this month, an IAEA delegation started a third round of negotiations with Iranian officials on Tehran’s disputed nuclear program.
The United States and its allies have accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program. Iran has denied the charges and insisted its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes.
