By Xinhua,
Caracas : The Venezuelan government has announced that it was using diplomatic means to resolve its dispute with Colombia over an incursion by its troops into Venezuelan territory last week.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro Monday said that he had talked with his Colombian counterpart Fernando Araujo on the phone about the Colombian troops crossing the shared border of the two countries in the state of Apure.
The Venezuelan government is seeking to avoid an armed conflict between the two countries by diplomatic channels, he said.
Venezuela accused Colombian troops of entering its territory illegally last Friday, a move which was denied by the Colombian government.
