Ramallah : An Israeli settler shot and wounded a Palestinian early on Tuesday shortly after another lost his life with gunfire at an Israeli checkpoint.
An Israeli settler, who was driving his car in central Hebron, southern West Bank, opened gunfire at the victim, wounding him in the hand, witnesses said. Palestinian medical sources identified the wounded as Jawad Idkeedik, 30.
This incident occurred hours after another Palestinian, approaching Hawara checkpoint near the city of Nablus, was fired upon by Israeli forces.
The Israelis claimed the victim was wearing a belt rigged with explosives, however witnesses denied this allegation, affirming that the shooting was unjustified.
Local sources in Nablus city identified yesterday’s fatality as Abdjawad Dardouk, 16, adding that the occupation forces kept his body and refused to hand it over to next of kin.
Meanwhile, four Palestinians were detained when Israeli Army forces advanced into several towns in Hebron and Jenin, in the north of the West Bank.
