Tunis : Syria and Tunisia on Tuesday underlined the importance of the outcomes of Damascus Summit, held late March, on boosting the Arab solidarity and enhancing the Arab joint action in the interests of the Arab just causes.
Meetings of the Syrian-Tunisian Higher Committee were concluded Tuesday, headed by Syrian Premier Mohammad Naji Ottri and his Tunisian counterpart Mohammad al-Ghannouchi, by signing the minutes of the meetings and 13 agreements and memos of understanding.
Both sides referred to the significance of intensifying Arab efforts to face pressures and challenges to which the Arab nation is exposed, on top of which the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Palestinian issue, the achievement of just and comprehensive peace and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the occupied Arab lands.
On economy, Syrian and Tunisian premiers called for boosting trade, economy and investment between the two countries, increasing the exchange of goods and removing any obstacles that hinder the flow of national goods.
The two sides stressed the importance of an agreement on avoiding the double taxation signed in 1998 to develop common investments in addition to activating cooperation in the field of textiles and clothes.
Syria and Tunisia signed 13 agreements and memos of understating on enhancing cooperation in the fields of local administration and environment, youth and sport, agriculture, economy and trade, industry, social affairs and labor, a program on enhancing the situation of women, family and childhood, a protocol on media and religious affairs and archives.
