Tokyo : Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Kenichiro Sasae will visit Israel, the Palestinian territories and Iran from Wednesday to exchange views with officials from those countries, the Foreign Ministry said.
To push ahead with Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts, in Israel, Sasae is scheduled to hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister Tzipora Livni and other senior government officials, the ministry said in a statement.
In Palestine, he will meet with Saeb Erekat, head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s Negotiation Affairs Department and other officials.
Sasae will make a four-day visit to Tehran from May 23 to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Motaki.
He will also attend a bilateral vice-ministerial regular meeting on May 24, at which he is expected to discuss with the senior Iranian officials bilateral issues, the Iranian nuclear issue, as well as situations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East.
