Jaipur : In an effort to rehabilitate the victims of the terror attacks in Jaipur and Ajmer, the Rajasthan government Wednesday announced a series of long-term compensation packages for orphaned children, widows as well as families who had lost an earning member.
The government has already declared Rs.500,000 for the families of those killed in the blasts and Rs.100,000 for those critically injured. It said Wednesday a male child who has lost both parents would get Rs.4,000 a month till he becomes an adult. For a girl child, the state government would provide a one-time payment of Rs.200,000 in the form of a bank fixed deposit besides Rs.4,000 per month.
Giving details of the package, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister R.S. Rathore told reporters that the girl child would also be provided a cheque for Rs.100,000 at the time of her wedding and another Rs.100,000 as a bank fixed deposit in her name.
Besides, Rs.12,000 per child would be given for school education and Rs.25,000 for higher education.
For professional or vocational education, the child would get a one-time amount of Rs.50,000.
Declaring that the relief and rehabilitation package was the first of its kind anywhere in the country, the minister said a non-earning widow with minor children would get Rs.1,500 per month for each child. A family losing an earning member would be provided Rs.2,000 per month.
“We would also try to get a government or a private job for a member of the family killed in bomb blasts,” Rathore said.
Nine bomb blasts at eight sites rocked Jaipur May 13, killing 65 people and injuring over 210. The terror strike at the Sufi shrine in Ajmer in October last year led to two people being killed and 28 injured.
Seven bodies of those killed in Jaipur are still to be identified, the minister said, adding that “investigations into the bomb blasts are progressing well”.
“We have already started the process of giving compensation to the families. Of the 65 killed, the families of 52 have already been provided the compensation. In case of four, the relatives are yet to come while in two cases the actual claimants are still to be identified,” Rathore explained.
The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case is working on some major leads, he disclosed. The help of an expert has been sought to redraw the sketches of the suspected bombers.
“These sketches would be three dimensional,” he added.
The Rajasthan police a few days ago released seven sketches, but their features failed to match the accounts provided by the shop-owners who sold the cycles to the bombers.
