International Dalit-Minorities Conference in July in New York

American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) is organizing an International Dalit-Minorities Conference to be held from July 4-6, 2008 to discuss the challenges and oppurtunities faced by minorities, dalits, and other supressed classes of India. The conference is being held at Mariott-Long Island in Uniondale, New York and will be chaired by Mr.Ram Vilas Paswan, India’s Minister of Steel and a prominent leader.

AFMI will also be holding its XVII North American Annual Convention in conjunction with the conference.

The conference will feature a wide array of speakers from across the spectrum of social activism, education, media, and politics. Speakers from India, USA, Canada, Sweden, Germany, France, and Sri Lanka have confirmed to attend.

Mr.Ali Qureishi, President of AFMI, extends an open invitation to all those who are concerned about the plight of Dalits, Muslims and other Minorities to participate in this conference in large numbers.
