Rashid Jalali Jaafari told IRNA moments after IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei presented his new report to the members of Governing Council of the UN body on Monday “The US government is trying to create new suspicions concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, because of failure in its programs in the region.”

He underlined in spite of the US pretexts on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, “We are going to continue our nuclear activities.” Jalali pointed out, “Of course we have declared our readiness for negotiations in the proposed package and accepted international supervision on our nuclear activity.”

He stressed that 5+1 Group except the US do not have much interest to follow Iran’s nuclear issue in the framework of the Washington policies.

The 7th Majlis deputy underscored the US policies on issues like Iraq, Afghanistan and Hezbollah did not bear results, so they have tried to illustrate Iran in the world as a country which is not committed to its international obligations.

Concerning suspension of uranium enrichment, the 7th majlis commission member expressed, “We were not supposed to suspend our enrichment activity because it is not in the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).”

Upon NPT convention and the agency constitution, they are supposed to help us with equipment and research, Jalali continued.

Regarding that Iran has had necessary cooperation with the agency in the framework of modality and the agency had referred to this in its reports, new excuses indicate that a number of countries are considering the issue as a political problem and not a legal one.

Such political confrontations would not bear any results and suspension is not on Tehran’s agenda, but continuation and development of peaceful nuclear activities is on the agenda.
