Gaza : A local Palestinian association on Tuesday sounded the alarm bell about dire conditions of patients in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The “popular front for facing the blockade” said in a statement Mohammad Al-Amawi, aged 22, passed away after suffering from leuakemia.
The young man, a resident of Al-Shujaiah district in Gaza city, had died because he could not pursue regular checkups outside the territory.
His father, who had spent up to USD 80,000 to try treat his son, said Mohammad had underwent a surgery in Israel several months ago, but he could not undergo necessary regular checkups due to the closure of the passageways around the strip.
The young man passed away as a result of severe bleeding at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
The local association said in its statement that the closure of the gateways caused death of up to 167 Palestinian patients in the strip.
