Colombo : At least 15 Tamil tiger rebels were killed early Thursday in a an operation by the security forces in Sri Lanka’s northern Jaffna peninsula, the navy said in a statement.
In a joint operation, the army and navy have thwarted a pre-dawn infiltration attempt by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) near the Chirathivu islet, the statement said.
Three boats of the LTTE were destroyed in the clash.
