Raipur : About 280 villages in Chhattisgarh’s restive Bastar region plunged into darkness Thursday night after Maoist guerrillas demolished two 33-KV electricity pylons, officials said Friday.
The Maoist attack took place in a forested stretch of Kanker district, some 300 km south of Raipur, the state-run Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB) said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Pawan Deo said the police had been out on high alert in Kanker district to thwart possible attacks on other government installations or police facilities.
