New Delhi : Jubilant cheers and some grunts of disappointment filled school corridors, internet cafes and homes as students discussed their Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 exam results that were declared Thursday.
“I didn’t expect such high marks,” said an excited Shikhar Sharma, who scored 93 percent in his class 10 CBSE exams.
A student of Venkateshwara International School in Dwarka, Sharma said he is very happy with his results and is now planning to pursue science with economics.
“I am just a little disappointed with my maths marks. I scored 95 in it while I expected 100,” he added.
Similarly, Srikant Venkitachalam of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Delhi, who scored a cool 94.4 percent aggregate, is not too happy with his score in maths. While he was confident of scoring a full century, he got 93 percent.
“He was sure he would get a full 100 in maths. He was worried about his handwriting and a few scratches that he had made on his answer sheet… he is contemplating on sending his maths paper for re-evaluation. Nevertheless, I am very happy with my son’s results,” Venkitachalam’s mother, looking visibly excited, said.
This year, 765,095 students appeared for the Class 10 CBSE examination in India and abroad. The overall pass percentage, which was 2.64 percent higher than last year, stood at 87.08 percent.
Unnika Manhas, a student of Bluebells International school, said that she was pleasantly surprised with the results because she was expecting her aggregate to be lesser than what she actually got!
“I am very happy. I have got an aggregate of 80 percent, while I was expecting something lower than that,” said Manhas, who now plans to pursue science with a subject combination of physics, chemistry, maths with economics.
Not everybody felt as lucky as Manhas.
“I have got an aggregate of 73 percent while I was expecting at least an 80,” said a somewhat disappointed Ishaan Chawla, a student of Tagore International School.
“But then that’s alright. I am now planning to pursue commerce with operational maths,” he added.
