Speaking to Local officials in southern Israel, Olmert said that commencing investigation on the case did not mean that he should submit his resignation.

The Jerusalem District Court heard, Tuesday morning, a testimony by a Jewish-American businessman who accused Olmert of accepting bribes, saying “Olmert preferred cash to checks.”

Also the police further reinforced their case against Olmert when on last Thursday Shula Zaken, personal Secretary for the prime minister, was placed under house arrest for 10 days following hours of questioning over corruption suspicions.

Police said that they found evidence on Zaken’s PC which clearly showed Olmert had received bribes.

Palestinian officials said that the recent bribes scandals might negatively effect the peace negotiations with Israel.
