Unidentified gunmen kill 4 young players in southwestern Pakistan

Islamabad : Unidentified gunmen shot dead four players in a major southwestern Pakistani city on Friday, a senior police officer said.

Three other players of cricket were also injured when the gunmen opened fire in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan province, Deputy Inspector General Police Rehamtaullah Niazi said.

The players were returning from playing a match when they were ambushed at Jinnah Town locality of the city. The gunmen riding a motorcycle escaped after the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack, the second such attack in three days.

Motives behind the attack were unclear.

But suspected Baloch nationalists, who are struggling for more political rights and share in the natural resources of the province, are blamed for such attacks.
