BJP announces 64 candidates for Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) late Saturday announced its second list of 64 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, denying ticket to 17 sitting legislators.

The second list, cleared by the Central Election Committee at its meeting here, includes four MPs, Chhattar Singh Darwar, Sartaj Singh, Gaurishankar Vishain and Neeta Pateriya.

It also includes a number of ministers in the cabinet of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. They are: Anup Mishra, Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Ram Dayal Ahirwar, Kamal Patel, Raghavji Bhai and Lakshmikant Sharma.

Former chief minister Babu Lal Gaur will contest from the Govindpura constituency.

The party had earlier announced a list of 115 candidates, while the remaining candidates for the 231-member assembly will be announced later.

The state goes to polls on Nov 27.
