India keen on joint venture investment in Bangladesh IT sector, says Jairam Ramesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh : India is keen on joint venture investment in the information and technology sector in Bangladesh, State Minister for Commerce and Power Affairs Jairam Ramesh said here.

The Indian state minister expressed his country’s interest while he called on Commerce and Education Adviser Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman at the latter’s secretariat office here on Saturday.

Jairam Ramesh also proposed for becoming a partner for generation of power on commercial basis, saying a joint working group would be formed in this regard.

After the meeting, the commerce adviser said they have discussed some very specific proposals. He said both the countries are very much interested in solving all bilateral issues.

He said the joint working group can be formed to become a partner for power generation side by side with joint venture investment in the IT sector.

Commerce Secretary Firoj Ahmed, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, Director General of South Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Mahbub-uz-Zaman and Indian Economic and Commercial Councilor Sudhakar Delela were present.
