Three militants killed in blast in Pakistan’s northwest

Islamabad : Three militants, who were planting a bomb at a school, were killed in Pakistan’s northwest of Wednesday, police said.

The militants died at the scene when they tried to blow up the school in the restive Swat valley, according to a police officer.

Officials say that suspected Taliban have blown up or burnt over 100 girls schools in Swat over the past several months.

In another incident, a link bridge was destroyed with explosive in Sangota locality of Swat, disrupting traffic in the area, locals said.

In another development, the militants claimed responsibility of kidnapping 14 children, who were abducted on Tuesday on allegations that they were spying on the militants.

Security forces continued offensive against security forces militants in different parts of Swat valley.

Hundreds of people were seen leaving homes due to bombing by the security forces of the positions of the militants.

Police said they have recovered body of a soldier who was kidnapped few days ago by the suspected militants.
