Ranchi : The main opposition party of Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sunday asked Chief Minister Shibu Soren to clarify his government’s stand over the violence against north Indians in Mumbai and some p1`arts of Maharashtra.
“Why is the Soren government mum on the issue? Even the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) partners in Jharkhand are maintaining mysterious silence over the issue,” former chief minister and BJP leader Arjun Munda told reporters.
“Three people from Jharkhand were killed in Maharashtra. The state government has tried to play down the issue,” Munda said.
The BJP leader also expressed surprise at the Lok Sabha members from the state not raising the issue. “The Lok Sabha MPs of Jharkhand are silent on the issue. Why MPs of Jharkhand are silent on the issue?” Munda asked.
Three people of Jharkhand were reported missing after attacks on north Indians in some parts of Maharashtra Oct 19. Of the three missing, two belong to Dhanbad district and one is from Khuti district.
Chief Minister Soren had warned that mineral supply would be restricted if the attacks on north Indians continued. Later, Soren skipped media queries over the issue.
