New Delhi : It was a rather silent birthday party for Delhi Congress chief J.P. Aggarwal.
Aggarwal, who turned 63 Tuesday, remained busy throughout the day and met scores of people discussing the party strategy for the Delhi assembly elections of Nov 29.
However, that did not stop several party members from wishing him with flowers and decorative plants.
One party worker, who perhaps knew how much Aggarwal believes in stars, gifted him a Fengshui tree – for good luck.
“Sir, I hope this small Fengshui tree proves to be a good-luck charm for you and the Congress comes to power again under your guidance,” the Congressman said gifting him the tree at the party headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg.

Politicians take a ride in style!
Politicians may remain elusive once they are elected but as soon as they hear the magical word ‘election’ they start doing everything possible under the sun to seek publicity and appease voters.
In a bid to draw attention, an independent candidate, Sudesh Kumar Jain, reached the returning officer’s office riding a buffalo for filling his nomination. Jain is contesting from the Vishwas Nagar constituency in east Delhi.
A.K. Aggarwal went to the returning officer’s office on a camel as he filed his nomination papers from the Babarpur constituency in northeast Delhi.
But the cake goes to an independent candidate from Seelampur constituency – Hafeez Ahmad Hawari – who took a donkey ride for the purpose.
Ravindra Bansal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who is fighting from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, recently took out a cycle procession.

Transparency in Congress
The Congress party has answers for every query. After senior leader Margaret Alva alleged that the party ticket in the Karnataka assembly elections was sold in some cases but her son was rejected, the Congress was quick with a reply – and an interesting one.
“If the son of a leader like Margaret Alva, who was general secretary of the Congress party, member of Congress Working Committee, member of Central Election Committee and in charge of six states, doesn’t get the ticket, then it shows the transparency of the party in the matter of distribution of tickets,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad said.
Alva was Wednesday dropped from all her party posts.
