Raipur : A squad of 12 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel had a narrow escape in Chhattisgarh Sunday as a landmine blast triggered by suspected Maoists missed the target, police said.
“Maoists triggered a powerful landmine blast in Kanker district when a vehicle carrying 12 CRPF men of the 190th battalion was crossing a bridge in a forested area,” district superintendent of police Abhisek Pathak told IANS by telephone.
He added that the blast took place just a few metres in front of the mini-bus in which the troopers were travelling.
While the driver applied brakes but the stones hurled by the impact of the blast hit window panes of the vehicle and injured six CRPF men. They were rushed to a hospital at the district headquarters, Kanker town, and then airlifted to state capital Raipur.
The condition of three of them was stated to be critical.
