Bhopal : The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has ruled Madhya Pradesh the past five years, has promised the state’s people food grain at subsidised rates and farm loans at low interest rates if it is re-elected.
The promise was held out in the ruling party’s election manifesto which was released here Sunday evening by BJP’s former president M. Venkaiah Naidu. The state goes to polls Nov 27.
The party promises to provide wheat at Rs. two per kg to all “Below Poverty Line (BPL)” ration card holders, salt at 25 paise per kg to the Scheduled Tribes families, farm loans at three percent interest, and 24 hours uninterrupted power across the state.
The manifesto also contained assurances of ‘pucca’ roads to villages, a master plan for rural areas, high schools at every five km, and higher secondary schools at every eight km. Besides, employment oriented training and jobs to 100,000 youth every year also have been promised.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, accompanied by Venkaiah Naidu, told reporters that his aim was to bring Madhya Pradesh at par with the developed states of the country.
The BJP manifesto has said it would provide separate power feeders for domestic and agriculture purposes. Chouhan said the state would start supplying uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours the moment separate feeders are installed across the state.
