The explosion occurred at 3:25 a.m. just a day after the so-called ceasefire during the royal cremation period, Thai newspaper The Nation reported.

PAD guards rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, but one of them – a 48-year-old man – succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, the newspaper said.

The PAD guards suspect the bomb might have been fired from behind the Civil Service Commission head office or from a building of the office.

Police were not allowed to check the explosion scene which the PAD guards cordoned off.

The PAD has been staging anti-government protests in Bangkok since May 25 and occupied the Government House for rally since Aug 26.

Just one day ago, a government spokesman said the cost of damage to the Government House and lost items is estimated to reach 100 million baht (about $3 million) since the PAD seized the compound.

The spokesman said he received reports from officials who went to retrieve documents and personal belongings in the Office of the Permanent Secretary. They reportedly found that many items were missing from the building.
