A suitcase containing the body of Akshay was found at the Varanasi railway station Wednesday night when the Lucknow-Varanasi passenger train arrived.

The boy had been kidnapped and murdered Nov 18 by Ajit Singh and his wife Sunita in the Ashiana locality of Lucknow.

“The couple was living as tenants in the house of Ramesh Verma, whose son was Akshay,” police spokesperson Ghulam Abbas told IANS.

Verma had got a huge amount of money after the Lucknow Development Authority acquired his land. “In a bid to get a huge ransom, the couple murdered Akshay and after packing the body in a suitcase, dumped it in the luggage van of the Varanasi bound passenger train,” Ghulam added.

However, the photograph of the body was instantly sent to the Lucknow police and as Verma had lodged a missing complaint the same day, Akshay’s body was identified.

“Sunita has been arrested and we are looking for Ajit who is absconding,” inspector Hemant Rai of Ashiana police station told IANS on phone.
