The Qutb Minar metro station, slated for opening in June 2010, has a 500 square metre area especially earmarked for the museum.

“It is an effort to add to the beauty and lustre of the world heritage monument. The metro station has been modelled keeping in mind the monument. It will be an open court where articles of historical importance will be put on display,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesman Anuj Dayal said.

According to Dayal, the open area is being designed in the pattern of a colonnade where the artefacts will be displayed symmetrically at a fixed distance.

The DMRC is in consultation with the Archaeological Survey of India for the arrangement and collection of artefacts.

“The station has been built to provide a clear view of the majestic Qutb Minar from the station premises,” Dayal said.

The Qutb Minar metro station will be part of the Central Secretariat-Gurgaon route.
