“The MCOCA was extended to Delhi in 2002. I want to question the United Progressive Alliance government, why was the Delhi police not allowed to invoke the MCOCA provisions against the Delhi serial blasts accused?,” BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley told reporters here.

The BJP has registered its protest over using this law against the Malegaon blast accused, including Sadhvi Pragnya Thakur.

Jaitley said: “We haven’t heard anything about the investigations in Delhi serial bomb blasts. Where are the investigations into the Jamia Nagar shootout headed?”

Accusing the central government of applying double standards, Jaitley said: “Does the Congress-led government have a policy of invoking MCOCA on the basis of religion and not on the nature of offence?”

Five serial bombings shook the national capital Sep 13, killing at least 25 people and injuring nearly 100 others. Indian Mujahideen, a self-styled terror outfit, claimed responsibility for the Delhi blasts.

After the serial blasts, the police shot dead two alleged terrorists in a gunbattle in Jamia Nagar in Delhi Sep 19 and arrested five others from there.
