Kathmandu : The new Nepal government of the Maoist party is witnessing a flurry of visits by foreign ministers, including by India’s External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Mukherjee arrived in Kathmandu Monday on a three-day visit to review bilateral agreements.
On the same day, British Minister for International Development Mike Foster alighted in Kathmandu on a four-day visit.
The Danish Embassy in Kathmandu said the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Per Stig Moller will arrive Wednesday on a four-day visit.
Besides bilateral assistance to Nepal, Denmark is also among the Western governments that have offered to resettle the over 106,000 Bhutanese refugees who have been leading a hard life in eastern Nepal for almost two decades now since their eviction by the Bhutan government.
In December, China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi is expected to visit Kathmandu.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Kathmandu last month as part of a four-nation tour. Currently, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous people, S. James Anaya, is on a nine-day Nepal visit.
