London : The Indian High Commission here has opened a 24-hour telephone line to help people who might be worried about friends and family in Mumbai.
The High Commission’s general telephone number will be manned round the clock to assist with queries, officials said.
The High Commission has received a large number of calls from Britons worried about friends or family-members in Mumbai in the aftermath of Wednesday’s terrorist attacks that killed more than 80 and injured over 250.
The two luxury hotels targeted by the terrorists are popular among British tourists in Mumbai.
Fears were raised after reports that some of the terrorists had targetted British and American nationals.
Indian-origin MP Keith Vaz said the attacks were “coordinated and targeted against tourists visiting India.”
