New Delhi : Leadership of the Sri Lankan government forces announced Wednesday it will soon control the Tamil stronghold of Kilinochchi town.
Spokesman of the Sri Lankan Defense Ministry Keheliya Rambukwella said in a press conference that recent fierce battles enabled the government forces to capture all areas on the western coast.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the government forces said military clashes between his forces and the Tamil rebels were still ongoing, adding that military and logistic aid was sent to forces around Kilinochchi town.
Battles, that were launched last September by government forces, got fiercer in November.
The country came under strong international pressure when the battles led to the worsening of living conditions of civilians living in the battle areas.
