The security personnel who died in the operation included two officials of Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorism Squad, one inspector, two assistant sub inspector and six constables.

He said an unknown group Deccan Mujahideen has sent an e-mail to a TV channel seeking responsibility for the attack, but right now “we have no details about the identity of the group”.

“According to our inputs, the terrorists came from the sea route and we have recovered a boat from the Sasson dock,” Kumawat said.

Describing the ongoing operation by NSG commandoes, Kumawat said: “The security personnel have sanitised the area from the eighth floor to 21st floor at Trident Oberoi and till fourth floor in Taj Palace Hotel.”
