Bhubaneswar : Orissa assembly Friday adjourned for the day to mourn the death of former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh who died Thursday in New Delhi after battling kidney ailment for several years.
The house observed a minute’s silence after few members spoke about the contribution of the 77-year-old leader who fought relentlessly against corruption.
“It is an irreparable loss to the nation,” said Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“The nation will remember his (V.P. Singh) contribution,” said J.B. Patnaik, leader of the opposition and former chief minister.
